CPLC Creates Jobs in Underemployed Neighborhoods
13th Nov 2018
This month, Chamber Business News featured CPLC's successful workforce initiative in Maryvale.
The public/private collaboration targets one of Arizona's most underemployed neighborhoods. After less than a year, the results have far surpassed our initial goal, putting thousands of Maryvale residents to work.
The article touts our program's measurable success, recounting, "Maryvale makes up about 5 percent of the state’s population but accounted for 12 percent of the state’s unemployment a year ago. Today, that number is down to 10 percent."
This great success is made possible by our partners in this program, including the Maryvale+Work Initiative, Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity, Goodwill, the Center for the Future of Arizona, and charitable grants provided by Walmart.
In the words of CPLC President & CEO David Adame, “CPLC is leveraging the strengths of the youthful, diverse and family-oriented Maryvale community to help its members and businesses rise to their potential.”
