It’s wonderful what we can accomplish when we work together.
Children across Arizona—in Phoenix, Tucson, and Yuma—recently received Christmas stockings with toys and treats, thanks to your support.
If it hadn’t been for you, many of these children would not have been able to celebrate the holidays this year. Some would have thought Santa forgot about them. Others, that they simply didn’t deserve a Christmas present.
But that didn’t happen, thanks to YOU.
Thank you to our presenting sponsor, Food City, for making this possible. Thank you also to our sponsors Desert Ford Dealers, Mayer Brown, Waymo, DLA Piper, Doordash, SRP, Capital One, Honor Health, Mercy Care, Fuego 106.7, Univision, Cox, Telemundo, Prensa AZ, La Tricolor 103.5, Fuego 106.7, Southwest Gas, El Caliente 92.1 y 95.7, La Buena 94.3, Enterprise, HUB, Genoa Healthcare, and District 7 Carlos Galindo-Elvira.
At the root, Ángeles del Barrio is a celebration of love and compassion. It’s sharing Christmas magic with the community. It’s cherishing and protecting childhood.
Last weekend, our volunteers got to experience that same warm, fuzzy feeling I get each time I hand a child a Christmas stocking full of treats and toys. And then the joy of seeing that child’s face light up with excitement as they enjoy the treats in their stockings.
Desde La Raíz, our Ángeles del Barrio events predate the founding of Chicanos Por La Causa. It all started as a grassroots event during the holidays to give back to our comunidad, from la comunidad.
In those days, we gave small paper bags with peanuts and an apple.
That might sound like a small gift, but in the words of one of my coworkers who attended the event as a child, they felt great joy when they opened the bag and peeked in: Santa hadn’t forgotten him.
And 55 years later, I'm glad we are still sharing holiday cheer. It’s thanks to supporters like you that we’re able to create magical moments like these for families in our community.
Thank you for making our families’ holidays brighter this year!

Your gift is eligible for the Arizona Tax Credit for Qualifying Charitable Organizations (QCO) of up to $470 for people who are single, married and filing separately, or the head of the household; or $938 for people who are married and filing jointly. This means a gift of $470 to CPLC can reduce your state tax liability by $470. To learn more about the QCO tax credit, please visit https://azdor.gov/tax-credits/credits-contributions-qcos-and-qfcos.
