The dinner table is set with your finest plates and silverware.

The smell of warm apple pie and tamales are coming from the kitchen.

And all the people dearest to you are finally together again, under the same roof.

It’s officially the holiday season! And tonight, we’ll count our blessings and remember what matters most in our lives.

But not everyone in our community are as fortunate.

For some families and individuals, the gratitude dinners at our CPLC Casa de Primavera Senior Center and our CPLC Community Center are the only opportunity they’ll have to celebrate Thanksgiving.

That’s why I count you as one of my blessings.

Thank you for being part of our community and contributing with your attention, your support, and even your donations.

Thanks to generous people like you, we were able to help a family access free, nutrition-dense food when their SNAP benefits ran out. A teen girl was able to access free mental health services when other people in her life couldn’t help. And a grandmother in our community was able to find safe, stable housing.

Thank you for caring about the children, students, fathers, mothers, and grandparents in our community. This year, you’ve helped us look after survivors of domestic violence, families experiencing homelessness, and people looking for another chance to try again.

You are a blessing for our community, and I’m grateful you’ve joined our cause.

I hope we can keep counting on you tomorrow, when the sun comes up and shines on our community again.

And as we celebrate all we have to be grateful for this year, I also encourage you to take a moment tonight to remember the history of our nation and imagine how we can move forward beside our Indigenous brothers and sisters towards a future that is bright and sunny for all.

I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving, surrounded by all your loved ones.

Warm wishes,
