Marlene had been in an abusive relationship before, but she thought this time would be different. Then, her once-loving boyfriend became jealous, controlling, and violent--eventually threatening her life. Her new baby girl was the motivation which drove Marlene to escape to safety and start a new life with help from the CPLC De Colores Domestic Violence Program.

Because CPLC stood with her, she now stands with other victims as a De Colores volunteer. She uses her experience to educate and mentor other women to access resources to break the cycle of violence.
