Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response

18th Mar 2020

Chicanos Por La Causa’s (CPLC) highest priority is the health and safety of our staff, families, customers, and partners. As we all face the uncertainties associated with Coronavirus (COVID-19), CPLC, with the guidance of public health officials, has implemented steps to slow down the spread of COVID-19.

In order to maintain critical services, CPLC has shifted to virtual interactions with our clients whenever possible. All group activities have been cancelled. Behavioral health programs will continue services with clients via phone, text, and video chat, while prescribers are issuing advanced refills for client medications. Workforce development programs will also continue to provide services virtually.

Our residential programs—substance abuse treatment, domestic violence, and senior housing programs—will continue to provide housing and meals to clients with a reduction in support services and cancellation of group activities. Medical visits will still take place, and meals-on-wheels clients should not anticipate a disruption in service.

Youth programs including Early and Migrant Head Start and community centers are closed until further notice; instruction at CPLC Community Schools will be provided online. Staff are working to ensure that students continue to receive nutrition and other support during this time. CPLC’s Family Resource Center will remain open for individual families to receive support as needed.

Any necessary in-person interactions will take place with modified procedures to limit exposure to COVID-19, and all other staff who are able will continue to work from home.

Any of CPLC services may be affected as information from our local health departments and governments change daily. This decision has not been made lightly and we understand the hardship that reducing services will have on many of our families. During this period, all children under the age of 18 will have access to free meals and boxed meals as needed from the local public schools. Please check with your local school district for more information.

Finally, effective March 17, 2020, the CPLC main lobby will be temporarily closed to the public. Please call 602-257-0700 should you have questions regarding services CPLC provides.

CPLC will continue to evaluate and adjust to the evolving COVID-19 situation. We have faith that the CPLC Familia and our community will come together and rise to the new challenge we currently face.

Stay safe and be well,

David Adame, CEO
Chicanos Por La Causa
