Content Children and their families will learn about yummy veggies and activities that promote a healthy lifestyle in their local communities throughout Arizona. Chicanos Por La Causa Early Childhood Development Program (CPLC ECD) will hold several events that promote the Farm to School initiatives to lower childhood obesity in early childcare and education. During the month of October, families from Queen Creek to Surprise and Eloy to Willcox will enjoy FREE events culminating with a benefit concert in Yuma. The events will have hands-on activities, create awareness about jobs in agriculture, encourage buying local to strengthen local economies, and promote an active lifestyle by practicing their moves at a benefit concert. CPLC is excited to announce that Los Chicos del 512, a musical band of teachers with lead singer Evelyn Molina who is CPLC Migrant Head Start former student, will perform at our event in Yuma! All of this is made possible thanks to the support of our community partners Office of Head Start, Shamrock Foods, BlueCross BlueShield of Arizona, Harvest Prep Academy, Adult & Pediatric Rehab and Pan de Vida Foundation. CPLC ECD is committed to giving every child an opportunity to succeed in school and life. Every year, the program impacts the lives of more than 1,000 children and their families at 12 Head Start centers in underserved communities throughout Arizona. ECD offers full-day, full-year early childhood development services and education learning environments with committed, bicultural and qualified staff. By understanding the needs of low-income families and assessing the gaps and resources that are available in local communities where they live, CPLC ECD plans more effective strategies for children’s success in education and family empowerment.
